Block Island, RI

Wonderful weekend, and reunited with my best of friends: Ethan, Chris, Dave and Eric.

It was quite the trek to New London, CT... the ferry got cancelled so we went to Foxwoods casino:

Eric won a good chunk of money at blackjack and bought us drinks.

After, we stayed in a motel. The next morning was beautiful and we arrived on Block Island in one piece with Ethan and his mom waiting for us. We stayed in Ethan's grandparent's wonderful house. (Thanks Stephanie, Brenda & Monroe!) We ate well, and went exploring on the island. Last night, Ethan and I shared a special moment; we both witnessed a shooting star at the same time when I asked if he'd ever seen one. We all gazed at the Perseid meteor shower in all of its glory for a while. I think we also saw the milky way... or maybe it was wishful thinking.

Anyways, it was the weekend getaway I needed, but I am happy to be home.

Hurricane Harbor!

Hurricane Harbor... yesterday was a nice day in the overcast sun. Some slides were duds, some were actually fun. But it really just comes down to floating (or spinning) on the Lazy River when you don't want to wait on line for an hr and a half.

Also, nothing says a day in the amusement park without getting chicken tenders, curly fries, funnel cake and LOTS of iced tea!

Jackson, NJ!

Ok, so it's not backpacking throuh Europe, it's not glamorous, nor is it even a real vacation, BUT it's out of state and fun, and that's all that counts, right? (Oh the further perks of being unemployed)

Jess B. and I (and possibly some others) will embark on a journey to Hurricane Harbor this Wednesday!! Super exciting! It was either that or 1.5 hrs of learning the flying trapeze (which I'd still love to do!) but thought 6 hrs on waterslides would be money better spent.
Check it out:

I'm also trying to arrange a weekend trip with Chris et al to visit Ethan in Block Island, RI. How amazing would that be??

(Ethan is not staying here... or at least, I don't think he is...)

August is proving to be a month worth living...

Where to Go Next?

I'm really itching to go on a weekend trip sometime very soon... oh say to one of the following places:

1. Washington D.C. - I haven't been to D.C. since 7th grade. I really just want to go back to the Smithsonian and check out the nifty artifacts of our dear country.

2. San Francisco - I've only been here 4 times, yet it's become one of my favorite cities in the world. Just walking around Fisherman's Wharf brings back all those lovely memories of.... walking along Fisherman's Wharf. & Can't forget Pompeii's Grotto.

3. Nashville, TN - I really want to visit my dear best friend, Alice, because I know it'd be tons of fun and I haven't seen her in a long time. I also want to visit her while she's still in a Vanderbilt, because believe it or not, I've never experienced that "College Campus" feel.

4. Lexington, KY - Gotta visit Kristin, my pen pal of ... 15 years now? Crazy. She's visited NY, so I feel like I should visit Lex one of these days.

5. New England - Just 'cause I really like New England. Maybe Martha's Vineyard?

If anyone is seriously up for it. lemme know!!
